Scarf Care Instructions

Most scarves I paint are hand or machine washable in mild or regular detergent, and can be dried in the dryer in a pinch or hung to dry, then lightly ironed flat.

I wash and dry all my scarves before and after painting to minimize any fading, running or potential shrinking. I do not advise washing them in mixed loads, to avoid color bleeding in from other fabrics. I like to press my scarves with a medium-heat iron while they are still fairly damp. This restores the sheen as well as making the scarf lie nicely when worn.

If a thread in the scarf pulls, you can usually finesse it right by laying the scarf on a smooth cloth and gently rubbing your finger over the top in the direction of the run.
